Feeding

We feed our rabbits Heinhold 17-17 Family Formula.  Bucks and open does get 1/2 cup of food daily. Nursing does gets all they want. A pregnant doe will only get 1/2 cup of food a day until she kindles. After that she will get all she wants. We also feed the rabbits alfalfa hay mixed with grass. We make sure all the rabbits have fresh water 2 times a day every day. During the summer, we check on the animals 3-4 times a day. The animals are kept in a garage. We do not heat the garage during the winter. The garage is very cool during the summer, and that is because the garage is built from bricks and is in a very shady area.

Black Otter & Black Colors

    

Look at the black otter's face and compare to black face.  Notice the coloring around eyes, nostrils, eye circles & jowls. They are to be creamy orange to creamy white. Black rabbit is all black no other color. 

          

Notice the color differences between the two tails. Black otter's tail is to be black on top and creamy under tail. Black is all black.

    

Here is the ear of a black otter. Notice the creamy white coloring around and in the ear.  Picture of black otter's whole face.

The black otter is to have a triangle behind ears at the base of neck. They also should have a collar. Both triangle and collar are to orange to creamy white.

             

Notice the difference between the black otter's belly and the black belly. The black otter is to have the belly a creamy orange to creamy white in color, highlighted by an orange or fawn marking as it meets the self color of body.  They also have lap markings between their legs.   The black rabbit should be all black with no belly markings.
